My local patch Kandar province (1 Viewer)

well Ive finally found a 'local'patch close to Phnom Penh

it involves a short ferry trip (15 mins = less than $1) then a 10 min moto ride and im next to the rivers edge and amongst flooded fields. Initial investigation gives Kingfisher spc, lark spc, yellow vented Bulbul, Racket tailed drongo spc, flycatchers, and a great assortment of butterflies.

I intend to cover this as often as poss- probably a couple of times a month at present, and i can get a 6 metre boat built for about $200. Something to consider for the near future.

Im just happy to be birding so close to home and look forward to more detailed investigation given time.

Happy days

Take a good look at the Common Stonechat. At least here in Siem reap they are all Siberian Stonechats. I am surprised that you do not see Cattle and Little Egrets but have Intermediate at every outing. For every Intermediate I see here, I see dozens of the other two.

s for the Egrets -to be honest there are not that many about at the moment - water levels are very high so I spose they are widely dispersed.
thanks for your comments though - keep in touch - Im happy Ive got a few good patches to bird in now.

when the dry season starts Ill get in touch and come up to SR to see you if thats ok.

Anytime. But wait for another month or so, water levels are way too high. Plenty of Egret traffic early in the morning, migration is well under way.
