Once a bird lover ... always a bird lover
Hi there

Natures Weirdest Events 1/2 Tues 3/1/2012 BBC2 20.00-21.00pm
Natures Weirdest Events 2/2 Wed 4/1/2012 BBC2 20.00-21.00pm

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b019clbq

Yes another wildlife programme, in 2 parts covering 2 nights. This time covering the more unusual events about wildlife.

Chris Packham presents the show, and it covers all natural events like a car cacooned by caterpillers, Blackbirds falling out of the sky, plagues of all types of creatures, exploding toads and so forth

Looking good, and a little different from the usual run of the mill programmes. :-O

Regards

Thanks for the reminder I had missed it in the Radio Times, just caught your post in time.

Anytime, Pete

There appears to be a lot of good nature programmes around at the moment.

Love to see the part of the programme that shows the 'American Blackbirds falling out of the sky' tonight, and see what the problem really is as it is at the moment...rather than people assuming things.

Anyway, not long until the programme now

sorry how can you say you love the bit where birds are falling from the sky, I would class that as a very sad moment.

Another superb, very informative programme tonight once more on all levels by Chris :t:

Having had a look at the programme tonight, it is mentioned that Fireworks have been the cause/culprit of the "American" Blackbirds demise. So sad to see them on the ground with various injuries. :-C
They must be scared senseless by the noise of the Fireworks, and collide into all solid objects - such as buildings, wires etc. Many birds had injuries to their bodies, and one bird noted had a broken wing, so that speaks volumes for problems that are external to the bird.

The contents of the programme shows the way birds suffer if there are obscure things that happen ie foaming of water, odd substances in the water, and it causes bird such as Loons and Grebes to suffer as they lose the waterproofing of their feathers.

Human intervention does play a large part and it is good to see that birds do survive odd events in their lives (not controlled by us as people)

The 'holes' in the ground ...they looked scary to look at at the best of times. :eek!:

Disappointed a second time - this is a waste of Chris's talents. Apart from his measured tones instead of some presenter yahoo bigging it all up, it might as well have been any collection of weird clips assembled as a freak show.
