Hi there, just wanted to say hello from Walney. I’m new to Birding just moved last September & with a garden now has introduced me to this world. I can honestly say l love it 😍 I’ve been learning about foods etc, feeders & how to keep the bigger over run birds out!!! Starling’s 200+ & Pigeons 41 🙈Everything is caged up!! I’ve learned over the last 6months about them. I really don’t like them birds as they are vultures food was gone in ten minutes before l got cages. Ground & Hanging(Around Feeder Tubes) Changed the foods l was giving & now have got to a good place. I’ve just bought a lovely bird table which the chap makes with a wooden barrier all round the opening area. So 🤞🏼 it works. It is one that has a bracket to fit it to the wall. There is a couple of cats here so thought it was the best option, to keep the birds safe. I’m going to thoroughly enjoy reading & seeing the photos of all the bird’s on here. I do have 3 Blackbird’s that come. TTbere is always one sat on the fence each morning waiting to be fed. I believe it’s a male. The other two are another male & the other is more Brown/Black so thought it was a female? I have heard people say that you shouldn’t feed them, but so far l like them….. I could be wrong but any advice would be great? The one who waits each day even comes as close to me as about a metre & half so l believe it’s learning that l am not a threat to it. So rewarding 😊🤚🏼

With winter upon us it's always a good thing to provide food for the birds as insects aren't usually available during the winter months.

Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum (y)
We're glad you found us and please join in wherever you like. ;)

Hi Rossi and a warm welcome from me too.

We've made such a mess of habitat etc that I feed the birds all the year. They don't take much during the late summer and autumn though, so I reduce the feed then.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.
