When is the best time to go looking for nightingales, when do they arrive in uk?

I guess it depends on the year (one year they arrived 10 days later than usual). I found only one bird in three of my "home patches" so far, so I guess the majority are yet to come.

If you are locating them on song, they don't really get going into full flow until the end of the month / early May.

Last year our first few were reported on 19 April but bear in mind last year was a bit colder.

Yes, May is the prime month to hear them singing (in England, anyway).

Reported at paxton pits over the weekend so look like starting to come in
