birding on slieveanorra monday 15th aug 2 red grouse 1 whinchat 2 raven 2 buzzard and 1 common lizard .Must admit the lizard was the highlight of my day even tho i had never seen a grouse before cheers john
 
I saw a barn owl last night over the road between Antrim and Crumlin. It gave me goose bumps all over.

I think it was the 80s when I last saw one

Today on the canal a real bounty (Portadown to Poyntzpass)

willow warbs
sedge warbs
Two grey herons (flying)
Kingfisher (below bridge at Moneypennys)
Bullfinch family
great,blue and coal tit
Song Thrush
Blackbird
Magpie
Moorhen
sparrowhawk (failed chase through hedge at knock bridge)
2 buzzards
Starling feeding in rowan
pair of mallard
Pair of swans
And a Kestrel

Three bird of prey along the Newry Canal - a first!:t:

And did I get photos of any of them? Of course not!:C
 
a couple of shots of juvenile sanderling at magillagan point,also at the Barmouth there were 3 curlew sandpipers and a little stint present, no shots of these as there was a total AH walking his dog. the dog chased the waders up and down the estuary for about 15minutes , while the so- called responsible dog owner stood and laughed:C
does this twit not realise that these birds are on migration ,and need as much food and rest as posssible
