This is a long shot, as I don't have a picture or an actual sound recording. I can try to describe the call, and the link is my attempt at whistling the call (ignore the picture of the beautyberry bush; needed something to create an uploadable file to vimeo). It's a 1-2 second series of about 10 or 15 very short staccato notes, ascending in pitch as if you were going up the scale. Starting at a pretty high pitch, higher than what I tried to whistle. I've never heard the call in our suburban backyard (or anywhere else when we're out walking), only at this particular golf course.

Thanks, after listening to the songs online I'm fairly sure it's the prairie warbler. I may bring a pair of binoculars with me next time I play, although it's not like you can sit and birdwatch while out on the course. Would be nice if it visited our backyard but that's probably not the right habitat.

Do it! At a Northern Virginia golf course a Prairie Warbler could be a migrant, so don't delay as the species' spring migration will be over soon.
