I've got this guy listed as a pipipi (great name) / brown creeper.
Can anyone confirm this please?
Sorry about the blurred photo - taken in forest near Makarora, between Lake Wanaka & Haast Pass, South Island.

I think it looks more like a Tomtit in color and the tail. Perhaps a S. Island juvenile male.

Your first instinct was right Fraser - Pipipi (or boring 'ole Brown Creeper) it is! Great little birds that really don't look like the pics in the fieldguide I had either!
