On Clara Mountain (1 Viewer)

When I was younger, fitter and healthier miles north of this southern shore
I used to climb on Clara mountain above the fields of Claramore
The scenery it was breathtaking of Duhallow's green countryside
And further east into Sliabh Luachra great beauty to be seen far and wide
Caherbarnagh hill and Gortavehy from Clara did not seem far away
And one could see far into east Kerry on a clear and a bright Summer's day
The Paps of Shrone A Sliabh Luachra landmark a sight of great beauty to see
Cullen, Rathmore and Gneeveguilla and the high fields around Knocknagree
In May, June and July above Clara the carolling lark upwards fly
His music a thing of great beauty he seems a small speck in the sky,
He sang above the beautiful mountain that overlook old Millstreet town
And there on bright evenings in the Spring and Summer I had my false dreams of renown
In Claramore wood birds were singing and the hedgerows and fields looked so green
And tis with a sense of joy I remember the marvellous natural beauty I've seen.
