I don't think this has been mentioned before: There is a very compact booklet on animals and plants most likely to be encountered in the Pantanal of Brazil.
1659690413795.png It is bilingual English and Portuguese. Our tour guide had it, and it was amazing how often we found an observed animal, not just birds, but also butterflies, frogs etc. It has been privately published in 2021 by Riccardo Boschetti, but it seems a bit difficult to obtain. The places I had tried before visiting the area had run out of stock. No wonder, it's so amazingly good. It was also out of stock at the pousada where we stayed for a few days.
NHBS now claims to have it in stock, but the shipping costs are absurd for such a small booklet. So, it might be best to try buying from the author? ([email protected])
