PERTH Australia (1 Viewer)

I am planning a trip to visit relatives in Perth Western Australia staying perhaps three weeks. Time of year not too important for me but Christmas and New Year are too hot and too expensive.
When is the best time to go bearing in mind I am not interested in sunbathing !! I would like to hire a local birdwatcher and take two or three days guided bird watching but have no preconceived wishes as to which birds i want to see.

Any information would be most appreciated. :)

Peter.

Hi Peter, I was in Perth in mid-November 2019 and it was unseasonally hot and very humid, so I'd suggest maybe endish of October. You can read what I did and saw in my Down Under report (see my signature below). But this is a direct link to the start of my Perth bit: Two Months of Lifers Down Under. You'll get the birds in their breeding plumage then.

We have an excellent Opus article for the Perth Area which was mostly written by one of our members: Perth area - BirdForum Opus. Still a work in progress (I'm about to add something on Yanchep NP, which David will no doubt complete LOL), so if you want any extra information just ask.

I can thoroughly recommend Lake Claremont and also Herdsmans Lake. Kings Park looked excellent, but we had to call that visit short due to the high humidity knocking us out that afternoon.

HTH and gives you something to work on.
