Public use telescope (1 Viewer)

Folks,

I am looking for a suitably robust indestructable high quality telescope for public use in a fairly rural setting by the sea (not coin operated) - does anybody have any experience of these things? And can anybody recommend a good vendor/product line? The usual vendors don't seem to do them at all...

(for a good cause)

Thanks

breffni,

Even though you are looking for binoculars that are "not coin operated" I would suggest that you search for "coin operated binoculars" or "coin operated telescope".

Most all manufactures of coin operated units also sell non coin operated units. The only difference being the need for the coin mechanism and the shutter to block the view when the time has run out.

A google search on "coin operated binoculars" (in quotes) finds 15,800 results.

These units are also designed to take the abuse that inevitably occurs with access by the general public.

Thanks - there are indeed several companies. The main issue seems to be vandal proofing the lenses. Zhumell, Seecoast and Kowa have seemingly good indestructable products...if you can believe the sales people.
