Question from Pennsylvania, USA (1 Viewer)

Hi! I’ve only just started learning about and identifying birds. I have 17 identifications at my feeder since last fall.

I cannot find a good picture match for this bird. It is sparrow sized. The black around the beak, eyes, and chin have me stumped. This picture is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA in February 2023.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi JCA and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. Indeed, that is a House Sparrow, a European species which was introduced to America a long time ago!

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.
