certainly something not quite right for a pure rc pochard - wonder if pintail is involved there somewhere.
 
The local experts had already worked out that it wasn't a pure bird, annoying as it was the species that equalled my yearlist record!
 
Comparing to RCP x Mallard hybrids, RCP x Pintail looks like a good theory for this bird. On the other hand, it would be hard to rule out any number of exotic combinations at Martin Mere...
