I am planning to make a trip down from Ontario in the hope of seeing these aforementioned birds in Houston to add to my ABA list.
What are the current best places to try?
Thanks in advance

A good while back I read a post on a Texas listserv about an Invasive Bird Study, I searched through my bookmarks and came up with this:

In Texas, eBird's only sightings are in Harris County, Houston Texas.

Here's the Texas eBird Species Observed Sighting List;

https://ebird.org/region/US-TX?yr=all&m=

Here's the Red-vented Bulbul High Count submission/Check List which appears to be the February 2021 Hot Spot;

https://ebird.org/checklist/S80728151

Here's the Texas Invasive Bird Project home page;

Texas Invasive Bird Project | Houston Museum Of Natural Science

Under Press and News, the most recent article about the Red-vented Bulbul is from 2018;

For specific information, I would suggest emailing Dr Daniel M Brooks. If you click on the TIBP Report Form you'll find his addee at the bottom of the form. Here's the link;

That's all I got, hope it helps.

Hi! I'm a brand-new member.

I also happen to live in one of the neighborhoods cited in studies of the bulbul - something I realized through research after spotting one in my yard last week! (My wife and I are relatively new birders, but we knew enough to know that the bird we spotted didn't conform to any common birds in the area.)

The area is called "The Heights;" it's a large neighborhood just northwest of downtown. I live in the southeast corner of the area, commonly referred to as the "Woodland Heights."

Pictures attached.
