A pair of barn owls have been saved after £30,000 was raised to repair the "tumbledown" barn where they have been nesting.

The Countryside Restoration Trust charity is renovating the barn at Bere Marsh Farm in Shillingstone, Dorset, which it owns, following an appeal.

Several babies fledged in September and the pair are expected to mate again in December.

Barn owls, which are protected by law, have been using the site for 20 years.

Rocky has turned out to be a female northern saw wet owl; she should be released soon after being shipped to Rockefeller center New York trapped in the Christmas tree that is annually displayef there. Was embedded a few days; emaciated when discovered. Not sure of the details of why it never flew out. I assume the tree was taken down in the day so that might impede it a bit to fly .

Perhaps it was somehow pinned within the branches or the tree is covered or wrapped up before it moves onto a flatbed truck.
