Sacramento, California: One Wading Bird, One Passerine (1 Viewer)

Taken 4/4/22 at the Mather vernal pools southeast of the city.

Guessing wading bird = Greater Yellow Legs (but the bill appears downturned?)
Guessing passerine = American Pipit

I see the bill of the first as straight and it still might truly be upturned (so agree on GrYe). You very clearly see the shadow of the lower mandible but the highlights on the upper mandible has a tendency to disappear into the background.
