Back in the 80's there was a Smew at Belvide for over a year. Higgo started calling it Sid,

As per The new Birds of the West Midlands:

"... an injured drake stayed in the Gailey-Belvide area from the beginning of 1988 until at least February 1991, where it was later found dead; another remained in the Dosthill-Kingsbury area from the unusual date of 23rd July 1991 until 15th April 1992..."
 
Hi all, I'm asking for help. we have four tonnes of gravel to move on Sunday. If anyone can spare a couple of hours, it would be much appreciated meet at RSPB 9:45 bring wellies
