Sardinia- kingfisher at sea? (1 Viewer)

I’m in Sardinia and a few days ago at a lake saw a kingfisher - nice.
Yesterday I was on a boat going past a cliff and my wife saw what she thought was a kingfisher; this was flying between rocks in the sea. I was surprised- I thought they’d be found near fresh water rather than salt.
So, is that normal that they would fish for sea fish or was my wife mistaken? Collins (digital version) doesn’t seem to mention it.

Thanks!

I often see Kingfishers on the rocks at the end of our beach here in Bulgaria, especially in late summer.

Likewise in Cyprus, in fact I saw 2 today in Paphos harbour one of which was "fishing" and which was totally oblivious to the activity going on around it!
