Sea Birds Migrating? (1 Viewer)

Are the Sea birds getting ready to abandon ship? While fishing Stonar today which is very close to Sandwich bay, iv noticed a lot more Herring Gulls and Black headed gulls along by the river. Also today about 100+ Fulmar (i think) flew over head, iv not seen these near Stonar b4. Could they be ganging up b4 they dissapear somewhere?

Is Stonar inland? 100+ Fulmars inland would be some record...
As for Herring and BH Gulls, their numbers are being boosted by birds from further north for the winter, they will remain with us all winter and throughout the year, mainly non-breeding birds in summer. They aren't going anywhere :t:

Hi Ray, Stonar is only a mile from the Stour Estury. You dont normally see much along the River behind the lake, but the last few weeks has seen a massive increase. Mick

If it's even just a mile inland, they wouldn't be Fulmars. Exclusively seabirds except when blown inland by gales, and they wouldn't occur in those numbers inland.
