Hello. I saw a flying shorebird today on a lake in Zurich, but I couldn't get to take a picture. I guess it would be impossible to ID without photo, but any suggestion will be appreciated
Does Common sandpiper match this description? How about juvenile Red phalarope?
- smaller than eurasian coot
- dark wings and white wing-bar
- one wingbeat and glide forward, then beat again and glide
- 1.5 wingbeat in one second
- flight path wasn't undulating
- call sounded like "pee-pip... pee-pip..."
