Fellow birders, wildlife enthusiasts, conservationists!

Before you scald and scorn me for putting this thread here please spare a thought for the plight of the rare and endangered Brown Bears in the Picos d'Europa, Spain.

Follow this link to sign the petition against an unnecessary, unimaginative, damaging project. Remember that the habitat of Brown bears is also the habitat of a whole bunch of other creatures, including birds:

Just signed
I shall be going to the Picos in June and want to return the following year to see Brown Bears in Espana.

Signed, a wonderful area that doesn't need this sort of developement.

Would it be better in the Wildlife Conservation forum?

I've also signed, and I really hope this project will never go ahead! The existing ski resorts cause enough damage already :C

Signed. Why is another ski resort necessary anyway? With things going the way they are, there'll be no snow is a couple of decades anyway, so this'll be another useless white elephant.
Wildlife is more important than yet another development catering to ski bores.

Hi Steve,

Nearly missed this one, as someone wrote earlier it would have been better in Conservation.

Signed now, hope it is not too late, keep us posted.

Thanks again to those who have signed (we can see who has and who only says they have, so no fibbing!). At the moment 2,646 signatures, an average of 12 or so in the last few days, which isn't bad. But we can always do better! Try sending the news to friends with the link (make it easy so there are no excuses), news groups, etc.

Do you think this would be better in the conservation forum?

You can only make the link if they are using their real name on this board, though. I don't.;)
