Had a good walk up the reservoir and back at Backwater, Angus, Scotland, it was almost walks end when I checked up in the pines before the gate, to see this wee beastie whizzing around in the shade of the trees. Bit of a surprise at 11:43 in the morning but, when you're hungry? Amazed I got a shot at all. I don't know which species it is, anyone?

WOW!! Scoz. Never expected to see a bat in daylight like that!! And I'd have thought they'd be hibernating (though I really don't know much about bats really).

I wonder why they don't migrate to warmer climates where there are insects?
