Hi All,

I've started a new soundcloud group with the aim of showcasing some of the most amazing, unusual and beautiful bird sounds from around the world.

https://soundcloud.com/groups/incredible-sounds-of-nature

I was pleased to see the recent thread on 'favourite bird song/call' here on birdforum, and I will try to source some of the suggested sounds.

Feel free to submit sounds you have recorded. Keep in mind it is a moderated collection to ensure the content is suitable. A short description describing the species, sound or story would be welcome. Photos are very welcome and keep the group visually appealing, and keep in mind if you don't have the image there are many excellent photos and illustrations available freely under creative commons licenses.

Suggestions on species that are worthy contenders for the collection are welcome!

Regards

Marc Anderson

American Bittern (gurgling display song), Red-throated Caracara, Horned Screamer, Barking Owl, and the dawn/dusk chorus of Ground Parrots...

Carlos

Yellow-headed Caracara, Brown Sicklebill, King of Saxony Bird of Paradise, Musician Wren, White Bellbird, Water Rail, Red-necked Grebe, Capuchinbird, Sharpbill, Pheasant Pigeon...

I've only heard it on documentaries, but surely Blue BoP should be included. And one I have heard - Lyre -Bird (I've heard Albert's, but Superb could be a better choice).

I agree Blue-bird of Paradise should be there, but I don't have permission as yet to use the BBC recording which is the only one I can find of the fully-blown display call!

Common Eider is now on, as well as the following (in the order they are on the website - sorry for the lack of taxonomical sensitivity!):

Varied Thrush
Hermit Thrush
North Island Kokako
Tawny-browed Owl
Hill Myna
Spotted Catbird
Bell Miner
Great Reed Warbler
Musician Wren
Great Blue Turaco
White Bellbird
Horned Screamer
Blue-winged Kookaburra
Yellow Oriole
Black-naped Oriole
White-rumped Shama
White-bearded Manakin
Common Nighthawk
Black Grouse
Russet-backed Oropendola
Eastern Whipbird
Slaty-backed Nightingale Thrush
Barking Owl
Blakistons Fish Owl
Club-winged Manakin
Bare-throated Bellbird
Ocellated Turkey
Capuchinbird
Capercaillie
Grey Go-Away Bird
Ribbon-tailed Astrapia
King-of-Saxony Bird-of-Paradise
Helmeted Hornbill
Brown Sicklebill
Black-faced Solitaire
Eurasian Bittern

Satin Bowerbird

keep 'em coming if you can think of more!
