Thermal imaging scope for tropical owls? (1 Viewer)

Hello, I do a lot of owling, especially in tropical forests. I am interested in using a thermal imaging scope to look for owls at night. I am planning on using it to locate an owl that I have already heard singing from thick vegetation. My goal is to use the it to pin point the owl, before using a flashlight to get a better view.

I am curious if thermal imaging scopes work well at night in a warm climate?

I am also interested to hear specific recommendations of models of thermal imaging scopes that you may have used.

Many thanks in advance, Iain

Pulsar thermal scope performed well in Ghana and Ethiopia, both in locating a hunting owl and quickly pinpointing the place from where an owl was calling (which is often not easy).

It does not perform as well with nightjars, because in the tropics ground or asphalt on which a nightjar is resting is often as warm or warmer than the bird. But a spotlight performs perfectly (while owls have little or no eye shine).
