Could anyone help identify this wader please. It hasn't got orange legs but I can't think of anything else with a shortish bill like that, so I'm thinking it is a Ruff. (Does that make it a Ruff guess? )

Seen today at Two Tree Island, Thames Estuary

Have you considered knot?

Bill looks a bit short but otherwise fine for knot: fat, grey above, stumpy legs.

Thanks to you both, I have only ever seen Knot in winter when they are more fluffed up, so had overlooked it this time.
