Welcome to Nick's dining room table. (2 Viewers)

Ouch - I have a similar commute, but it's once a week and I often see G W Egrets from the train - so I won't complain. Except it's tomorrow, my feet are aching and I don't want to go.

14 of them at least ( a few in the trees that were hard to count), a new record for me!

Another fan here of the Blackcap- I especially love them creamier Derry pics like this where you have allowed some white to creep into the blues and browns: like this one and the wondrous bunch of tree sparrows from what seems like way back.

Bit of 'all change' at this end - the illustrations for the town hall created a bit of a problem in that they couldn't pay me unless I sent them a bill, and they couldn't accept a bill of me unless I was a business - well now I am set up as a business (auto-entrepeneur) just to be pig-headed and get the cash out of them. So, I thought it perhaps time to go in for postcard production, so this bluethroat has been scanned, and sent to an online printer, and in 7 working days, I should have 100 postcards to put alongside the exhibition this christmas. Tbh - I'm expecting to get a pile of crumpled up blurred photos back - but we'll see! If the bluethroat passes the postcard test, then the snipe will be sent too - and here is the blackcap back from the beautician.

Well done Nick! That blackcap really is a beauty!

I've went through the business routine about 3 years ago, mainly for tax purposes because I'd sold one large, expensive abstract painting and wanted to make sure I did everything legit. But since then the paperwork or electronic web work these days is amazing: federal taxes, state taxes, local taxes, special state taxes! Since I don't sell much the money doesn't add up but the paperwork sure does!

Just had a response off the agency who are supposed to be paying for the use of these illustrations. On the phone we agreed 100 euros, this morning he sends me an email offering me 80 instead, so I question it. He insists that he stated 100 DOLLARS as the price ( for the French, foreigners MUST be American). I replied, but not in my usual corteous fashion, I said I have no idea why he would quote a price in Dollars, the USA is miles away, and 100 Dollars isn't 80 Euros anyway. I'm getting my 100 Euros now!

Well, I will once I've worked out how to do a bill!

Wondering how I'm going to keep paperwork for things like postcards, surely I can't send a bill with every single one! (Bien sûr que si!* they'll say)

* of course you can

Aieeehh!! Money and art just don't live comfortably together. Best of luck, and my sympathies.

they don't even live together, art went off to find itself and money keeps trying to get in touch for the sake of their unborn lovechild. I hate having to mix the two, though at least France has forgotten the crisis for a few minutes, while everyone is refusing to socialise for fear of the dreaded flu.

Bluethroat and snipe will make excellent cards - no doubt. Depending on the quality of the scans and printer, the results may look somewhat detached from your original - but try not to be overconcerned; no-one will see original and print side by side and the images are so very strong that they will stand a bit of, erm, flexibility in repro.
Mrs (or youngster) blackcap has come back from the poodle parlour lookng very striking indeed - superb pece this and just a shame it's too late for the SWLA - surely a must for that show.

the scan came out lurid green, and stretched, plenty of playing around with software to try and sort it out! Sometimes I think it would be easier to paint 100 copies of it!

They work so hard to make sure the customers get what they want. :smoke:
Thanks everyone who bid - that's £70 going to charity.:t:

Someone will be a very happy camper indeed- sadly not me, I was called out during final bid stage to deliver some paintings of my own. Clean missed it.
