Hi folks

Got bird feeders for the bluetits we have in our bird box. These other larger birds with sharp looking beaks keep turning up. I'm forever chasing off magpies from our garden as I don't want them eating the little bluetits when they fledge. Are these birds juvenile magpies or crows?

And yes, my windows do need cleaning 😫

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve and a warm welcome from me too. You'll likely get a load of young Starlings before too long - they look rather different, but look for the sharp beak and short tail. They love meal worms too.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.

How lovely to have such great views!!

Thanks for showing it to us Steve - let's hope they all fledge safely eventually.

Nice one on the nestbox.

Many people don't feed birds in the summer - there should be enough natural food around. Also feeding the birds when you have a nest present may be a bad idea, as it will bring other birds in which may be a threat/stress to your breeding ones.

Cheers worth noting this, the food isn't that close to the nest but we used to put food closer but will avoid this.

Re: the nest camera that was installed 2 years back so shouldn't be a disturbance I'm hoping.
