Hello,

What kind of tern is this? I think it should be a black tern.
Can somebody help with a confirmation or an identification?
Thank you very much in advance,

Istvan

Hello,
I agree with GMS It's an immature (2cy?) Black Tern for me to.
Such a contrasting blackish cap is sometimes seen in these, recalling Whiskered Tern, but it's much larger and rounded, therefore not a real cap.
The underwing is slighter contrasting paler than normal ( but easy with variation), adding to the Whiskered Tern jizz.
I can post pictures of a simila bird from later.
Whitish underwings, contrasting with the darker belly are a jiz feature of distant Whiskered Terns. So Tfs this pitfall Black Tern!

Isn't the main thing here the dark wedge on the upper wing primaries? That says "black tern". In some other respects it looks a bit like whiskered to me
