Pilgrimages

And smalle fowles make melodye
(from The Canterbury Tales, Prologue)

When that Aprile, with his showers soote
The drought of March hath pierced to the roote,
And bathed every vein in such licour,
Of which virtue engendered is the flower;
And smalle fowles make melodye,
That sleepen all the night with open eye,
(So pricketh nature them in their courages)
Then longeth folk to go on pilgrimages ...

Pilgrimages?! Is that an old-fashioned word for birding tours?

It's a bright, clear, sunny day, a few days into winter here, with some reassuring briskness to the crisp air ...... o:D
