I was travelling a lot of yesterday and didn't get an opportunity for more "practical" poetry. I wish I could be more metaphorical but I tend to find seventeen syllables that fit and that's good enough for me. I appreciate the fact that others have taken up the mantle and don't find their work pretentious in the slightest. The deeper, thought-provoking haikus on offer are surely better than my off-the-cuff work, for example:

Where's the missus gone?
Run off with another male!
Who'd be a Dunnock?

Maybe that's what comes of writing most of mine on my phone on the way home from work the other day
