great days birding today, first stop new brighton marine lake for the laughing gull, on arrival all I could see was a dozen birders and fog, the gull was located briefly at 10am on pontoon, but flew off again, I was happy with seeing the gull, it was then located on the beach on the groyne near the lighthouse, there was no need to panic it showed well all morning, there were also plenty of sanderling, turnstone, redshank and managed to pick out a few purple sandpipers .Off to the other end of the seafront to find the two snow bunting, soon located and good views again.
next stop was going to be hoylake, but the fog hadn't lifted, and it was now 2pm so decided to go to rspb burton mere, headed straight for the long eared owl location, great views again, black tail godwit, dunlin, loads of pink footed geese, and to end the visit a spotted redshank and a ringtail were seen:t:
