Yucatan Trip Report - January 2012 (1 Viewer)

Our travel club chose the Yucatan for our 2012 winter trip, two weeks based at a resort in the Mayan Riviera, with seven planned guided day-trips included.

This was a trip that focused not just on birds, but also on other nature, and the historical wealth of the Mayan heritage in the Yucatan.

Here are email addresses for three guides that are available throughout the Yucatan, and another only on Cozumel.

Guilmer Tun <[email protected]>
Our guide, and very knowledgeable regarding birds, butterflies, and local history and culture.

David Bacab <[email protected]>
Assisted in our trip planning, and in obtaining the services of Guilmer, but was already booked during the time of our visit.

Luis Kú Quiñones <[email protected]>
We met him by chance near Muyil, when he was leading a Canadian couple. They expressed satisfaction with his ID skills.

Cozumel: Rafael Chacón <[email protected]>
Rafael is an essential contact for Cozumel Island, as his services will be necessary if you wish access to the Cozumel Golf & Country Club, which is one of the best birding sites on the island.

I know Rafael, He is excellent. He helped me find the Cozumel Vireo and other birds. Anyone going to Cozumel should look him up. Luis is very expensive. Something like $300 per day. I have info on other guides in Yucatan and Belize if anyone needs it.
