I went in October 2000. It was rather dull but may be better a few weeks earlier.

Hi Rob,
I visited Zante in May 2000, staying in Alikes. The salt pans - in the centre of Alikes itself - plus the surrounding area were reasonably good (85 species in two weeks). I can't speak for the southern end of the island, but most birders head for the salt pans, so I guess they are the main attraction.
