Sporophila telasco

Identification

Male - grey, dark streaked upperparts, whitish underparts, white rump, dark chestnut throat patch, black wings, white wing-bars, white speculum, short curved bill. Female - brown, dark streaked upperparts, buffy white underparts, streaked flanks, white speculum.

Distribution

Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.

Taxonomy

Monotypic.

Habitat

Dry and moist shrubland, sandy coasts, swamps.

Behaviour

The diet includes seeds.
