Identification
13 cm
Male greyish blue with white real belly and undertail coverts and grey lores. May show white supercilium when agitated
Female brownish all over but with whitish real belly and undertail.
Similar species
Compared with Himalayan Shortwing, male is paler, more greyish and lacks the black lores. Females lack the rusty tones in the forehead and lores and have paler belly.
Distribution
Mountains of south-eastern China (north-western Fujian and Guangxi)
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
This species was recently split from White-browed Shortwing.
Habitat
Humid, dense undergrowth in mature forest up to 3000 m asl.
Behaviour
Food consists of small invertebrates.
Vocalisation
Short segments given in rapid succession, where elements frequently in direct repeats.
