  • Scarlet plumage
  • Black wing-tips
  • Long curved bill

Juvenile

  • Greyish-white with gradual change to scarlet

Distribution

South America and Trinidad and Tobago.

Introduced/escaped birds are occasionally seen in Florida and possibly elsewhere.

This is a monotypic species1.
