From Myanmar to the Malay Peninsula, Brunei, Indonesia, and Thailand.
Taxonomy
Three or four subspecies are recognized in this species: galericulatus, coronatus, ardesiacus, and sometimes lemprieri.
Habitat
Moist montanes and lowland evergreen forests to 1500m.
