Distribution
Southern Europe and northern Africa.
Taxonomy
Alectoris barbara has four subspecies:
- A. b. barbara ;
- A. b. koenigi;
- A. b. spatzi; and
- A. b. barbata.
Habitat
Dry, open and often hilly country.
Behaviour
8-15 eggs are laid in a ground scrape and incubated for 24 days.
The diet includes insects and seeds.
