Distribution
Asia: found in China, Tibet, Nepal, India, Eastern and Western Himalayas, Bhutan
Southeast Asia: Indochina, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand
Taxonomy
Subspecies[1]
There are 2 subspecies:
- P. m. virens:
- Northern India (Kashmir and northern Punjab to Arunachal Pradesh)
- P. m. maculipennis:
Habitat
Temperate and moist lowland forests, to at least 2565m in Thailand

Vocalisation
Its call is a short zit.
