Identification
Black and olive brown streaks on the back, slate underparts, pale grey throat, black tail, lower flanks and under tail coverts barred black and white, short bill. Sexes are alike. [2]
Distribution
This species is found in South America from Colombia to Argentina east of the Andes.
Taxonomy

- P. a. olivacea - N Colombia to Venezuela, the Guianas and Suriname; Trinidad
- P. a. albicollis - E Brazil to Paraguay, e Bolivia and extreme n Argentina
Habitat
Seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland and swamps. [2]
