Identification

19 cm

  • Green upperparts
  • Blackish hood to chest

Distribution

South America: found in Peru and Bolivia

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies[1]:

  • P. i. intermedia:
  • Subtropical Andes of Peru (La Libertad to Junín)
  • P. i. signata:
  • Andes of south-eastern Peru (Cusco and Puno) to western Bolivia

Habitat

Montanes forest and forest borders, at heights between 1100 and 3100 meters.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet seems to consist entirely of fruit.

Vocalisation

Song: a high-pitched tsi-tsi-tsi-tsiiiii.
