Identification

- Scarlet head, neck, upper breast and mantle to uppertail-coverts
Distribution
South east Asia: found in the Lesser Sundas, Indonesia.
Taxonomy
Formerly regarded as conspecific with Wakolo Myzomela.
Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- M. b. boiei:
- Banda (eastern Lesser Sundas)
- M. b. annabellae:
- Eastern Lesser Sundas (Babar, Yamdena and Selaru)
Habitat
Moist lowland forests, mangrove forests, and moist montanes.
Behaviour
Usually seen single or pairs; occasionally in flocks.
