Description

Beach kingfisher ( halcyon saurophaga ) This is a large kingfisher (28 cm), most often encountered in the costal areas, nests in tree cavities, feeds on insects, crabs and small fish, sexes alike. Found throughout the Northern coast of New Guinea including the islands of the Geelvink bay, the west papuan islands, the Bismarcks and Solomon islands.
