- Yellow throat
- Black breast patch
- Yellow from lower face extends behind the eye to the supercilium
- Long narrow tail often cocked
- Fairly tame
Distribution
Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 3 subspecies:[1]
- M. n. nigripectus:
- North-western New Guinea (Vogelkop Mountains)
- M. n. saturatus:
- Montane forests of central New Guinea
- M. n. harterti:
- Mountains of Huon Peninsula and south-eastern New Guinea
Habitat
Moist montanes, occurring mostly above 3000' elevation.
