Identification
Distribution
Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan and Tanzania.
Taxonomy
Estrilda charmosyna has two subspecies:
- E. c. charmosyna - Extreme southern Sudan to Ethiopia, Somalia, north-eastern Uganda and north-eastern Kenya
- E. c. kiwanukae - Southern Kenya to extreme northern Tanzania
Habitat
Dry thorn scrub, usually on the ground in cover.
