  • Brown
  • Black head
  • White "ears"
  • Red facial skin
  • Black neck
  • Grey tail

Sexes similar
Juvenile: mottled brown

Distribution

North-eastern China (Liaoning and Shanxi).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Montane forests.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes roots, plants, buds, seeds, fruit, worms and insects.

Breeding

They nest on the ground. The clutch of 5-8 pale green eggs is incubated by the female for 28 days.
