Davis Mountains SP is 2,709 acres in size and is located about 4 miles from the town of Fort Davis in West Texas. At an elevation of 5,000-6,000 feet, the park is in the Northern Chihuahuan Desert and contains both plains grasslands and pinyon juniper-oak woodlands.

Please note: as of April 12th, 2011, the park and Indian Lodge are closed due to the wild fires which have damaged some of the ridgeline trails and campgrounds. About 675 acres have been burnt, but the Indian Lodge was not damaged. About 80,000 acres of land have been burnt from Marfa in the south towards Balmorhea in the north where the fires are now headed. If planning a visit, please call: 432-426-3337.

Access and Facilities

Fees

  • $5 per day, 13 and older, day use only
  • $4 per day, 13 and older, staying overnight
  • Camping is available at various prices - see camping fees
  • Indian Lodge offers hotel accomodation and a restaurant - see Indian Lodge

Directions
The park is located on State Highway 118N. Take State Highway 17, 1 mile north of Fort Davis, then travel west on State Highway 118N for 3 miles to the Park Road 3 entrance, on the left.
