Habitat
Beaches, mudflats, river banks, fields, dunes, tussock grasses and shingle.
Behaviour
The diet includes mainly molluscs, crustaceans, insects; some seeds and fruit are taken.
It nests in a scrape lined with stones. Both parents incubate the eggs.
