Central and South America: found from tropical eastern Panama to northern Argentina.

- northeast Brazil
- P. c. laemostictus
- P. c. chrysochloros
- P. c. polyzonus
- southeast Brazil (Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro)
Habitat
Chaco, open fields with bushes.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of ants and termites.
