Distribution

South America: found in Colombia, Venezuela, Suriname, French Guiana, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 6 subspecies^[1]:

• P. m. insolitus:

• Eastern Colombia to southern Venezuela and adjacent northern Brazil

• P. m. malaris:

• Suriname and French Guiana to adjacent northern Brazil (Amapá)

• P. m. margarettae:

• Coastal eastern Brazil (Pernambuco to Espírito Santo)

• P. m. moorei:

• Eastern Colombia to eastern Ecuador and northern Peru

• P. m. ochraceiventris:

• North-eastern Peru and western Brazil to lower Rio Madeira (south of the Amazon)

• P. m. bolivianus:

• South-eastern Peru to Bolivia and western Brazil (to west bank of Rio Tapajós)

Habitat

Wet lowland rainforest.

Behaviour

Diet

Their main diet consists of nectar and small arthropods; feeding by the trap-lining method
